Bull City Vegan Challenge Week 3: Time to start VOTING!

With just eight days left to go, it’s definitely time to start getting your votes in. That’s right, April’s almost over!

We have a great prize for a randomly chosen challenge voter. Whole Foods has donated an Italian dinner themed basket that includes a bottle of wine. If you’d like to win this basket, remember to vote for your favorite challenge dishes by May 1!

Let’s see some photos of you enjoying the challenge!

Last week, we asked you to start taking pictures of your adorable selves eating the challenge dishes and you clearly listened!

Happy + Hale Durham had their soft opening this week and some of you jumped at the chance to try their challenge dish. Instagram user @veggieamanda brought her family out to enjoy the “healthy fare” at their soft opening.

Amanda and family won our Week 3 Giveaway for a creative group pose! They get to choose between a one month pass to the Durham YMCA, a 5-class yoga pass to Global Breath Studio, a one month pass to Chinese Shao-Lin Center of Raleigh or ADF’s Samual H. Scripps Studios 5 class pass. What a great prize! I wouldn’t mind checking out one or all of these places after all this eating out.

Twitter user and challenge volunteer @RaleighCello took this shot of two friends about to enjoy some vegan “chowda” and flash fried broccoli from Chef Ricky’s beach-style take out restaurant Saltbox Seafood Joint.

Christiane Voison (proprietor of Joie de Vegan who will be sampling at our after-party!) enjoyed the meal at Durham Co-op for “lunch n’ dinner” and especially loved the sides of mac n’ cheeze and cole slaw.

Have you tried the crispy tofu taco at Parts & Labor with masala sauce? A few of us did this week and really enjoyed it!

Challenge Volunteers

If you wondered who was behind this challenge, it’s a pretty large group of volunteers. We’ve been volunteering our time to connect with Durham restaurants and work with them to offer delicious protein-themed vegan dishes for the month of April. We do various things: designing our posters and then making sure they get posted throughout the city, sharing on social media about all the different restaurants and prizes, connecting with area vendors to obtain those prizes, writing this blog, putting together our after-party with vendors… the list goes on and on. It’s a labor of love because we love our city and we love vegan food!
